Toronto police have arrested a man and woman in connection with yesterday's shooting in a Regent Park apartment building.

A 21-year-old woman and a 23-year-old man, both from Toronto, have been charged with attempted murder, aggravated assault and other gun-related charges, police say.

On Wednesday morning, gunfire broke out inside a second-floor apartment in a Toronto Community Housing high rise near Gerrard and River streets. A 42-year-old man suffered multiple gunshot wounds and was rushed to hospital.

At 4 a.m. Thursday morning, police executed a search warrant at a home near Parliament Street and Adelaide Street.

A third person was arrested for unrelated matters, police said. A 19-year-old Toronto man faces charges including with drug possession and failure to comply with probation.

Police said that Toronto Community Housing staff, social media and CCTV cameras helped with the investigation.
