A tractor-trailer travelling west on the Gardiner Expressway tipped onto its side Monday morning and landed on a car, trapping one person.
The crash happened on Monday morning in the city’s west end near Islington Avenue, Toronto Fire Services said.
Emergency crews closed some westbound lanes to free the male victim and clean up a fuel spill.
The man, who has not been identified, was rushed to hospital. It’s unclear how serious his injuries are.
Two other people were taken to hospital with unknown injuries, said Const. Clint Stibbe.
The westbound collector lanes were fully reopened by 1 p.m. ET, Toronto police tweeted. The message said traffic delays were "extensive" and advised drivers to find alternate routes.
The city’s traffic line said all westbound Gardiner express lanes were closed east of Islington, two on-ramps were closed at that interchange and westbound traffic was backed up from east of Dufferin Street.
