A 69-year-old man was killed in a five-vehicle collision in Newmarket Monday night.

A 69-year-old man was killed in a five-vehicle collision in Newmarket Monday night.

The crash occurred just before 7 p.m. at Woodbine Avenue and Davis Drive.

York Regional Police allege an eastbound vehicle on Davis Drive ran a red light and struck a car driven by the elderly man that was travelling in the opposite direction.

The two cars were then hit by three other vehicles.

Police say charges are pending against a 25-year-old female from Port Perry, Ont., but did not provide further information.
