Ontario’s police watchdog has been called in to investigate after a man died while police responded to a bar fight early Thursday.

Police were called to Remington’s Men of Steel — a male strip club at 379 Yonge St. south of Gerrard — just before 2 a.m.  The man had been injured in the fight and an ambulance was called.

The man was arrested and placed in a police cruiser. At some time during the arrest, he had a medical emergency and was taken to hospital without vital signs and did not survive.

Toronto Emergency Medical Services described the man as "older" but did not specify an age.

The SIU is called in to investigate when someone dies or is injured while in contact with police.
