Man dies after shooting near Lansdowne and Davenport
Police say middle-aged man was shot in head in front of his family
A man is dead after being shot in the head in front of his family near Lansdowne Avenue and Davenport Road on Tuesday evening, police said
Emergency crews were called the the west-end home on Symington Avenue just before 6 p.m. and the middle-aged man was pronounced dead on scene.
Police said two people were seen running away from scene. They say they canvassed the area for witnesses and video. They are asking neighbours if the saw or heard anything suspicious. So far they have few leads and don't have anyone in custody.
"Originally we had police dog services here if people were on foot unfortunately there is just way too much pedestrian traffic here and we weren't able to keep a scent," said police Insp. Egidio Roseto.
Two relatives of the victim, whose identity has not been released, were also home at the time.
Police transported them to 11 Division for questioning.
Lina Rocha lives across the street from the crime scene and said the family that lived in the home was exceptionally ordinary.
"Right now broad daylight somebody killed. I'm surprised," she said. "You don't hear any arguments or any fights or any noise from that house..."
Toronto police are asking anyone with information to come forward or call Crime Stoppers.
