Man charged with murder in east-end killing
Police have charged a man with first-degree murder in the stabbing death of an elderly man in east Toronto on Wednesday morning.
Emergency crews were called to a home near the intersection of Victoria Park Avenue and Ellesmere Avenue East at about 4:30 a.m. where they found the man suffering from stab wounds to the abdomen.
Hans Meier, 69, died a short time later in hospital.
Kyle Laybolt, 21, was charged with first-degree murder on Wednesday. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
Meier's death is the fourth homicide in Toronto this year.
