Man charged in unprovoked church stabbing
An 18-year-old man has been charged following an unprovoked stabbing at an east end church Sunday.
Police said Yonatan Tesfaldet, of Brampton, entered Calvary Church at 747 Pape Ave. on Sunday at around 4:30 p.m. and without any provocation, stabbed a man sitting in the pew next to him.
The 25-year-old victim was taken to hospital with life-threatening injuries.
Police have charged Tesfaldet with attempted murder, aggravated assault and possession of a dangerous weapon in a public space.
He appeared in court Monday.
