Man charged in death of woman who vanished in 2010

Niagara Regional Police have charged a 35-year-old man with murder in the death of Shana Carter of Grimsby, Ont.

Victim was originally from Halifax, lived in Ontario at time of disappearance

Niagara Regional Police have charged a 35-year-old man with murder in the death of Shana Carter of Grimsby, Ont.

Carter was reported missing by her sister to Peel Regional Police on Dec. 11, 2010, and her remains were found on Sept. 21, 2012 in a wooded area in Blair Township south of Grundy Lake.

Carter was originally from Halifax, but was living in Grimsby at the time of her disappearance.

Christopher Lee Sharples is charged with first-degree murder.

He is scheduled for a bail hearing in St. Catharines on Friday.

Niagara police say they want to talk with anyone who did home renovations at 4 Arrowhead Lane in Grimsby during the week of Dec. 6, 2010.
