It is alleged that five-month-old Ye-Lin Huang died after suffering significant injuries.

Huo Bin “Jack” Shen, 28, was arrested on Friday and appeared in court later in the day.

Police say a man dropped the mother and baby off at Scarborough General hospital on Saturday. The baby was transferred to the Hospital for Sick Children that same day, and police were called in.

The child died on Monday.

Officers including forensic investigators have been posted all week at the Havenhill Square residence, near Midland and Finch avenues, where the mother and child lived in a basement apartment.

Police say Shen and the mother know each other, though the details of their relationship remain unclear.
