A veterinarian clinic in Toronto's east end is hoping police will find an alleged thief after a jar of cash for a charity helping with disaster relief in the Philippines was stolen over Christmas.
The alleged incident took place on Dec. 27 when a man entered the clinic claiming he had a pet with a medical emergency and that his mom was coming very shortly with the animal.
Denise Angus, director of VETS Toronto said the attendant helping the man walked away for a moment when the man grabbed the jar and made his way to the door.
"He didn't even knock over a Christmas card," said Angus, estimating there was approximately $400 in the jar.
The clinic didn't notice the jar was missing until following Monday when Augus said she spent six hours searching through the security tape.
A recording of the incident has been posted to YouTube in hopes of identifying the man.
"It was so gutsy," she said, describing her initial reaction as "shocked."
Denise said there are a lot of people who work at the clinic that are from the Philippines.
So far, no one at VETS has heard from police besides the initial police report.
