King Street reopens after gas leak
Enbridge crews were on scene to contain leak, traffic diverted
King Street West has reopened in both directions between Spadina Avenue and Bathurst Street after a gas leak closure that lasted several hours.
Some buildings in the area, including homes and businesses, had to be evacuated while crews from Enbridge worked to stop the leak.
Toronto Fire and police both issued statements on social media, advising the public of the leak at King and Brant Street and of the road closure.
People in the area reported a pronounced gas smell.
Among the traffic affected, the TTC had to reroute the 504 King streetcar in the area.
