Kayaker dead, another missing in Caledon

A woman's body has been recovered and a man is still missing after the two went missing while kayaking in the Credit River in Caledon in southern Ontario.

A woman's body has been recovered and a man is still missing after the two went missing while kayaking in the Credit River in Caledon in southern Ontario.

Police and emergency crews responded to a call at about 2:50 p.m. ET Sunday after two empty kayaks were spotted stuck in the ice in the middle of the river near Winston Churchill Boulevard and King Street. 

The municipality of Caledon is located about 60 kilometres northwest of Toronto.  

Soon after, crews pulled the woman's body from the river.

Emergency crews were to continue searching overnight for the other kayaker.

Police said the Underwater Search and Recovery Unit may be deployed Monday morning.

The kayakers' names have not been released.

Investigators from Caledon OPP and Halton police were on the scene Sunday evening with helicopters, the canine unit, the marine unit and an emergency response team.
