Industrial accident injures 2 in Don Mills and Eglinton area

Two people have been injured in an industrial accident in the Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East area.

The Ministry of Labour has been notified about the incident

Two people have been injured in an industrial accident in the Don Mills Road and Eglinton Avenue East area.

Toronto Fire Services says they received a call at around 12:30 a.m. and attended 225 Wicksteed Ave.

A man in his 40s received serious burns as a result of sodium bicarbonate and triflic acid. The other victim received minor injuries.  

There was smoke at the address not due to a fire but rather due to a chemical reaction, Toronto fire said.

Firefighters sealed the chemical leak and have notified the Ministry of Labour about the incident.
