A house fire in King Township has sent a woman to hospital due to smoke inhalation.
York Regional Police say the injuries from the fire on Bernhardt Road near Dufferin Street are considered to be minor. The woman, who lived at the house, was taken to hospital for observation.
Police received calls about the fire Friday at about 9:10 a.m. Firefighters from King Township, East Gwillimbury and Bradford worked to control the blaze at 315 Bernhardt Rd., which is now out. Twelve vehicles responded to the fire.
Firefighters are continuing to monitor hotspots.
A vehicle next to the detached house also caught fire, Jason Ballantyne, spokesperson for King Township, said. The house, which is 1,800 square feet, has been destroyed.
The Ontario fire marshal's office has been contacted but the fire is not believed to be suspicious.
