Toronto police are asking for the public's help after a woman was sexually assaulted in broad daylight in High Park.
The assault occurred at around 1:45 p.m. Thursday near Grenadier Pond at the western edge of the busy park. A 23-year-old woman was walking alone in the area when she was grabbed by a man and sexually assaulted, police said in a release.
He is described as being white with short brown curly hair, between 21 and 25 years of age and about five feet, eight inches tall. At the time of the assault, he was wearing a white T-shirt, dark sunglasses, blue shorts and dark blue baseball hat.
The attack — in a park popular with families, runners and nature lovers — has shaken regulars.
"I even bring kids here when I babysit them," Abby Corcoran said. "I don't know if I would do that anymore."
Others drew a safety lesson from the incident.
"I heard it on the news, and knowing we were coming here as a school, we had a discussion about security before we came and decided this would be a good added feature," teacher Glenda Jean Steep said.
