Man struck by CN freight train dead, GO Transit service resumes

Trains are running again on GO Transit's Kitchener line after a man was struck and killed by a CN freight train, causing service delays and cancellations. 

Peel regional police confirm a man was pronounced dead at the scene near Steeles Avenue East and Advance Boulevard, just east of Dixie Road around 4:30 p.m.

GO Transit trains have been given permission to pass the fatality site, according to the transit agency. 

GO Transit still expects delays the rest of the evening, as the investigation is still ongoing. 

The following trains are affected according to GO Transit's website: 

  • The Union Station 16:20 - Georgetown GO 17:28 train ended its trip at Malton. 
  • The Union Station 16:50 - Kitchener GO 18:57 train will depart Malton shortly.
  • The Union Station 17:20 - Georgetown GO 18:28 train is delayed 35 minutes.
  • The Union Station 17:50 - Kitchener GO 19:57 train will depart Union at 18:20.
