A young man is fighting for his life after being shot overnight near Bayview and Steeles avenues in North York.

Toronto police from 32 Division say they were called to a house on Glenelia Avenue at about 4:30 a.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. They say they found a young man who had been shot in the head.

Officers performed CPR until paramedics arrived and rushed the man to hospital. He remains in serious, life-threatening condition, police said Sunday afternoon.

There are indications a party was underway at the house at the time of the shooting, though police were unable to confirm this.

There was no immediate word on the assailant, and no further details were available about the victim. Police say they are investigating and talking to witnesses.
