Fugitive Vinbert Samuels arrested in Toronto
Samuels wanted on dozens of charges, also wanted for removal from Canada
A fugitive wanted by several police agencies has been picked up in downtown Toronto.
Vinbert Samuels, 31, was arrested near Wellesley Street East and Sherbourne Street on Thursday afternoon.
Toronto police, the RCMP and the Canada Border Services Agency were involved in the arrest, which occurred in front of a group of stunned pedestrians.
The CBSA website says that Samuels is wanted for removal from Canada, meaning that he is not allowed to be in the country.
The CBC’s John Lancaster reports that Samuels, who is facing dozens of charges, is alleged to have rammed two police officers during a pursuit last year.
