Firefighters battle 2-alarm blaze in Scarborough
Firefighters are battling a two-alarm blaze at a Scarborough townhouse.
Toronto Fire received the call at around 10:15 a.m. Saturday. When they arrived to the home on Morrish Road, near Kingston Road, they found the garage engulfed by flames.
“We had a garage fire fully involved on the first floor reaching into the second floor, the fire did extend into the second floor and into the attic,” said Toronto Fire Acting Platoon Chief Richard Cooper.
The fire took several hours to get under control and there were no injuries.
However, there was also damage to the adjoining home where Craig Deveau and his family live.
“We were going to my parents tomorrow so looks like we might be staying there for a while now based on the assessment. We’ve got to figure out how much damage is,” he said.
The Deveau family says that the elderly couple who live in the home that caught fire was in the basement packing for a trip.
