Man, 48, stabbed to death in low-rise apartment building in the Beach

A man, 48, is dead after a stabbing early Sunday in a low-rise apartment building in Toronto's Beach neighbourhood.

A man, 48, is dead after a stabbing early Sunday in a low-rise apartment building in Toronto's Beach neighbourhood.

Police were called to the building on the corner of Queen Street East and Blantyre Avenue, near Victoria Park Avenue, around 3 a.m.

When officers arrived, they found the man in a hallway on the second floor, suffering from stab wounds, according to Gary Long, spokesperson for the Toronto Police Service.

Toronto paramedics were getting ready to transport the man to hospital through an emergency run when he succumbed to his injuries, Long said.

The victim, identified by police as Robert Joseph Walker, was pronounced dead on scene.

Long said police do not know what preceded the stabbing.

Homicide detectives have taken over the investigation. They have not released any information about possible suspects and are asking witnesses to come forward.
