Fatal shooting in Etobicoke, man found dead in car
'No one should die like this,' family friend says shootings need to stop in the area
Toronto police are investigating a fatal shooting in Etobicoke after a man was found dead in a car overnight.
Police were called to the parking lot of a Toronto Community Housing property on Scarlettwood Court, near Scarlett Road, around 11:40 p.m. Sunday night for the sound of gunshots.
Officers arrived to find a man suffering from serious gunshot wounds, he was pronounced dead at the scene.
CBC News spoke with a woman named Colleen at the scene. She said she knew the victim, identifying him as a friend of her son who "had a good soul, a good heart."
"He was a kid that would be standing there with a bunch of his friends and he'd see me walking from the bus with my bags and he'd just run over and take them from me, wouldn't even ask," said Colleen.
"That's just the kind of person he was."
Police plan to look through security footage in the area to try and figure out what happened, but so far no suspect information has been released and no arrests have been made.
