EPCOR crews were busy this chilly Sunday morning repairing as many as six water main breaks across Edmonton.

The breaks have affected a couple hundred people said Tim le Riche, spokesperson for the utility.

“When you get these kind of plunges in temperature you get a spat all at once,” he said.

Temperatures dipped to -24 C in the city this morning, feeling more like -34 C with the wind chill.

One of the largest water main breaks happened near the University of Alberta,

“We just ask people to be patient,” le Riche said.

“There are crews out there working and we’re going to get it done for people as quick as we can, as safely as we can.”
