Elderly man airlifted after Mississauga crash

An 87-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car on Burnhamthorpe Road in Mississauga.

An 87-year-old man is in hospital with life-threatening injuries after being struck by a car at about 6 p.m. near Burnhamthorpe Road and Mississauga Road.  

The man, who has not been identified, was taken to a Mississauga hospital before being airlifted to a trauma centre in Toronto, according to Peel Regional Police.

Investigators are still trying to work out what happened. The man's car was parked on the curb when he was struck and it's not known why he was on the road.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Peel Regional Police. No charges have yet been laid.
