A dump truck driver faces a careless driving charge in connection with a Thursday morning crash that sent four people to hospital.

The Ontario Provincial Police say the crash occurred shortly before 9 a.m., on the ramp going from the eastbound lanes of Highway 401 to Eglinton Avenue.

Police allege that the dump truck first hit a Chrysler and then five additional vehicles before coming to rest on the left shoulder of the ramp.

Four drivers went to hospital, though police say all suffered non-life threatening injuries.

A 60-year-old Port McNicoll, Ont., man has been charged with careless driving. He is due to appear in court on July 15.
