An Aurora man allegedly drove drunk to a police station in York Region last night and demanded that officers give him a place to sleep.
The officers obliged, after the 30-year-old gave a breath sample and was found to have a blood-alcohol level of more than twice the legal limit.
According to a news release, the man had walked through the front doors of the Rutherford Road station in Vaughan at 11:30 p.m. on Monday.
Police say he had driven his Honda Civic into the visitors' parking lot before entering the station.
Inside the station, police say the man "became belligerent" and officers could smell alcohol on his breath.
An officer who had seen the man drive in, investigated further and charges were soon laid.
The accused faces an impaired driving charge and a so-called over 80 charge. He is due to appear in court on April 3.
