Just before noon, a deer crossed the expressway near Park Lawn Road. Police closed both directions of the road for safety precautions.

Police said the deer was then lying down near the highway.

Police were concerned that if it tried to run across the road it could cause serious injury.

At around 2:20 p.m., the deer was tranquilized and removed from the side of the Gardiner.
