Deadly shooting in Vaughan
3rd brazen shooting in as many months again raises questions about targeted killings
One person is dead and another has been rushed to hospital following a shooting at a cafe in Vaughan on Woodstream Boulevard, near Martin Grove Road and Highway 7.
Police say multiple shots were fired at Baggio's Cafe, located in a busy commercial complex, at about 6:30 p.m. Officers arrived on the scene to find one man dead and another suffering from potentially life-threatening injuries. The second man was taken to a nearby trauma centre.
The names and ages of the victims are not yet known. There was no description of a suspect.

Police spokesman Sgt. Clint Whitney called on any witnesses to come forward, noting that the area includes a number of restaurants and other attractions. A bachelor party was underway at the venue next door.
"We believe there were a fair amount of witnesses in the area," he said, adding witnesses can either contact the York Regional Police homicide unit or leave tips anonymously at CrimeStoppers.
Whitney said "multiple shots" had been fired but would not say if the victims were part of a gunfight.
The normally quiet community north of Toronto has recently seen two deadly shootings.
Both cases were found to be separate, targeted killings, Whitney said. "The victims were specifically targeted — not random, not gang related in the sense of street gangs."
He added it is "too early" to discuss whether there might be a connection between tonight's shooting, and either earlier killing.
