A Toronto-area cheerleading team is hoping to go to Florida via the internet.

The 24 members of the Cheer Strong Icons squad in Whitby, Ont. have qualified for the World Cheerleading Championships next month in Orlando, Fla.

The bad news? The trip will cost about $25,000 in travel and entry fees.

So the team has started a crowdfunding campaign to raise the cash.

“Cheerleading is not in the Olympics, but this is the next closest thing,” said coach Adriana Cesaerano.

The world championships are “the one every girl wants to go to,” she added.
