A Toronto driver is fortunate today after a car went over a guard rail on one of the city`s busiest highways and landed in a river.

Toronto police say they were called Sunday at 9:42 a.m. after a car went over a guard rail on the Don Valley Parkway and landed in the Don River.

The incident took place in the southbound lanes of the highway near the Gardiner Expressway.

Authorities say one person was in the vehicle but no injuries were reported. Police tweeted that their marine unit had been dispatched. Many first responders attended.

The car was removed from the river and traffic in the area has cleared up.
