There is talk that an Ontario-raised basketball star could be a high-ranking pick in next year’s NBA draft.

Andrew Wiggins grew up in Thornhill, Ont., just north of the City of Toronto.

He once played basketball at Vaughan Secondary School. Now he plays for a high-school team in West Virginia.

Both his parents are accomplished athletes.

His dad, Mitchell Wiggins, was once a guard in the NBA.

And his mom, Marita Payne-Wiggins, won two silver medals at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles.

Their son may now be on the verge of making it in the professional ranks himself.

But Andrew Wiggins knows he hasn't made it yet.

"I'm a long way from it," Wiggins said when speaking to reporters in Hamilton this past weekend.
