6ix things to know about Britney Davis

  • She recorded a cover of Drake's Hotline Bling but from a female perspective, which was picked up by local radio stations.
  • She comes from a Jamaican background, a major source of inspiration for her From the Six track. The song is largely about Toronto's rich diversity and inclusive attitude.
  • She wrote her first song at the age of seven. It was a love song called Heartbroken. Of course she was too young to be speaking from experience. From the Six came straight from the heart, however, and only took her three days to write.

  • Beats are in her blood and music runs in her family. Her father is a DJ and her 3 siblings are also musically inclined.
  • Strike! She is a competitive bowler. Her highest score is 356. Career highlight: bowling an almost perfect game and being named Bantam Bowler of the Year.
  • She is a huge film buff and works at Cineplex Odeon. She loves musicals and her favourite movie is Grease

The campaign continues with "Six in the 6ix." This is an ongoing series that will be featured on CBC Toronto News. Read more and see how you can participate.
