A four-year-old boy has died after being struck by a vehicle while walking to school with a parent at Artesian Drive and Southampton Drive in Mississauga.
The incident happened shortly after 8 a.m. The victim suffered serious head injuries according to police and was airlifted to Sick Kids hospital in Toronto.
The incident occurred near Artesian Drive Public School, in the Winston Churchill Boulevard and Highway 403 area.
The boy was not immediately identified.
Police had earlier reported that the victim was a seven-year-old girl. That information was corrected just after 10 a.m.
Peel Regional Police are investigating.
