Power has been restored to more than 2,000 customers in Etobicoke, North York and the downtown core after they were without power for hours on one of the coldest mornings of the year, according to Toronto Hydro.

The power company said that as of 5 p.m., all power has been restored.

Earlier, Toronto Hydro said that the lights were out for some of its customers in an area bordered by Dixon Road, Bloor Street West, Islington Avenue and Jane Street.

Electricity was soon restored for some but 500 customers remained in the dark, the company said via Twitter.

Further outages — affecting some 1,600 customers downtown, 300 in North York and another 200 in Etobicoke — soon followed.
