A dog run in a park in Toronto's west end has been temporarily shut down after some mysterious bits of food were found on Sunday.

Toronto police are investigating after they were called to Baird Park, which has a leash-free dog area. The park is located at the corner of Keele and Annette streets in the Junction neighbourhood.

Police say dog owners had discovered several pieces of chocolate — which can be toxic for dogs — scattered around the confines of the park.

Toronto police say there is no indication the chocolate was placed in the park to intentionally harm dogs.
