Arrests made in roommate kidnapping case
Whitby, Ont., man confined and assaulted over rent money, police say
Three people have been arrested in the case of a 23-year-old man who was allegedly attacked and forcibly confined to
his Whitby, Ont., home by his roommates.
Durham regional police say three people confronted the man last week over rent money they had loaned him. It's alleged the suspects assaulted the man with a broken bottle and a kitchen knife and confined him to the home. Police say the man told the suspects he had an appointment with social services and could get the money then.
Two people were arrested immediately and a third was arrested on Monday.
Police say the three suspects confronted the man Monday morning asking for rent money they had loaned him.
They say two of the suspects drove him to the appointment, at which point the man asked an employee to call police.
Kevin Marrast, 33, and Keshia Lafond-Carter, 24, of Whitby, are charged with break and enter with intent to commit, assault, forcible confinement and kidnapping. Marrast is also charged with uttering death threats and two counts of assault with a weapon.
Eon Charles, 37, of Whitby, is now charged with assault and forcible confinement.
