5 men charged in 9 GTA 'smash-and-grab' robberies
Toronto Prada store, Mississauga motorcycle shop, Sherway Gardens targeted
Five men from Toronto and Peel Region have been charged in a series of recent smash-and-grab robberies.
Toronto police say that nine businesses were hit between Aug. 30 and Sept. 18.
Some of the businesses targeted included a Prada store on Bloor Street and a motorcycle shop in Mississauga, police say.
On Oct. 3, a series of search warrants were executed and five men arrested.
A 37-year old Toronto man faces nine counts of committing a break-and-enter, as well as charges of arson and two counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
A 39-year-old Toronto man faces eight counts of committing a break-and-enter, two counts of intent to commit a break-and-enter and three counts of possession of property obtained by crime.
Two men from Peel Region each face a single count of committing a break-and-enter.
Another Toronto man faces a single charge of possessing property obtained by crime.
The accused men appeared in a Toronto court the same day they were arrested, police say.
