Peel police have arrested a fourth suspect in connection with the double shooting of an officer and a civilian in Brampton last year.

Three suspects were arrested within a day of the shooting in October 2015, but at the time investigators said they were still searching for a fourth suspect.

Devonte Rowe, 20, of Brampton was arrested yesterday and now faces the following charges:

  • Two counts of aggravated assault
  • Two counts of kidnapping
  • Two counts of robbery

The shooting occurred when an officer was responding to an unknown 911 call at a building on Stokes Road on Oct. 16. Police say when the officer arrived on scene, one of the suspects immediately fired several shots at his cruiser, hitting the officer.

A civilian had already been shot before the officer arrived at the scene and was airlifted to hospital in critical condition. A second civilian victim was located nearby but was not injured. Both the officer and the civilian who were shot survived.

Rowe is expected to appear in Brampton court Thursday for a bail hearing.
