4 people arrested after nearly 40 kg of cocaine seized at airport

The RCMP have arrested four people in connection with illegally importing 37.5 kilograms of cocaine after intercepting three shipments of the drug at Toronto Pearson International Airport.

The RCMP have arrested four people in connection with illegally importing 37.5 kilograms of cocaine after intercepting three shipments of the drug at Toronto Pearson International Airport earlier this month.

The drug was hidden in packages of machine parts that originated in Panama.

RCMP officers arrested two people at a Mississauga apartment complex on Aug. 7. They arrested two other suspects on Aug. 20.

Four people have been charged in connection with the crime.

Philmore Jarvis, 47; Vernon Bouillion, 38; Michelle Maraj, 36; and Wilson Jaramillo, 37 face charges of:

  • Importing a controlled substance into Canada.
  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking.
  • Conspiracy to commit an indictable offence.

Maraj was released on bail, and her next court appearance is Sept. 12.

The three others remain in custody. Their next court appearance is Aug. 28.
