Three people are dead after two separate crashes Thursday night.

In Mississauga, two died after the motorcycle they were riding collided with a car.

It happened on Burnhamthorpe Road just west of Tomken Road at around 8 p.m.

The man driving the motorcycle died at the scene, his female passenger died in hospital. The driver of the car was taken to hospital with serious injuries that are not life-threatening.

 Const. Lilly Fitzpatrick with Peel Regional Police says it's still unclear what happened.

"It's much too early to determine what, if any, charges will be laid," she said.

The collision comes one week after the OPP reported a rise in motorcycle-related deaths this year.

Single-vehicle crash kills man in Richmond Hill

One man is dead after a single-vehicle crash in Richmond Hill last night.

It happened on Elgin Mills Road between Leslie Street and Highway 404 at about 11:30 p.m.

A man in his 20s lost control of his vehicle and crashed into a concrete barrier. He was trapped inside the car and pronounced dead at the scene.

Roads in the area were closed while police investigated but have now re-opened.
