SIU investigating north Toronto crash that critically injured 2 men
Collision occurred at Wilmington Avenue and Combe Avenue intersection
The Special Investigations Unit is now investigating the two-vehicle crash at Wilmington Avenue and Combe Avenue that sent two men to hospital with critical injuries Tuesday afternoon.
The SIU is called in when someone is seriously injured or killed in a confrontation involving police, but there is no word at this time how Toronto police are involved.
Police were called to the Wilmington Avenue and Combe Avenue where a car and truck collided just after 1:00 p.m.
The area is near the intersection of Allen Road and Sheppard Avenue West.
Officers confirm one of the injured men is in his 30s and the other in his 40s.
Mahendra Brahmbhatt lives in the neighbourhood and told CBC News that there was one person in each vehicle.
"Severely injured person was the person sitting in the truck, he was bleeding," he said. "And in the car, that person, he was conscious. He was just shouting."
The impact caused the vehicles to land on a home's front lawn, according to police.
Wilmington Avenue was been shut down between Acton Avenue and Clifton Avenue for the investigation.
