Two people have been killed in a fiery two-vehicle crash in Caledon on Thursday afternoon.

OPP Sgt. Brenda Evans told CBC News that police were called to the scene at the Beechgrove Sideroad and Hurontario Street at 1:15 p.m.

Evans said a preliminary investigation indicates that a white pickup truck has heading south on Hurontario Street and a dark-coloured van was going the opposite direction.

"For some unknown reason, one of the vehicles crossed over the centre lane and the collision occurred,' she said.

The van became engulfed in flames. Both drivers were killed.

One other person was taken to hospital.

Initial reports from paramedics had indicated that the collision had involved a car and a pickup truck.

The OPP say that Hurontario Street will be closed from Beechgrove Sideroad to County Road 10 for several hours.
