One person has been arrested for impaired driving after crashing a car through a fence and into the side of a church near the intersection of Weston Road and Sheppard Avenue West on Monday morning.

Police say they received a call for the crash just after 3 a.m. Both people in the car were injured in the collision and were taken to hospital by paramedics.

This is the second time a vehicle has slammed into St. Basil's church this year. Back in January, two people were sent to hospital with minor injuries after a similar collision.

St. Basil's is located at the T-intersection where Sheppard Avenue West ends and meets Weston Road.

Police say a driver has failed to turn right or left at the intersection "more than once" and as a result, the church has been hit multiple times.
