1 man stabbed, another Tasered near College and Lansdowne

A 50-year-old man faces an attempted murder charge after a man was stabbed during a fight in the College Street and Lansdowne Avenue area early Thursday.

A 50-year-old man faces an attempted murder charge after a man was stabbed during a fight in the College Street and Lansdowne Avenue area early Thursday.

Police were called to 224 St. Clarens Ave. at about 6 a.m. They found a 49-year-old man, said to be a resident of the two-storey rooming house, inside and suffering from a stab wound. 

The other man involved in the fight was outside armed with a large kitchen knife, according to police. He was subdued with a Taser and taken into custody.  

Both men were taken to hospital. The stabbing victim has serious injuries according to paramedics. 

The building is divided into rental units. A neighbour told CBC News the fight was preceded by one man yelling at the house from outside, after which there was a scuffle in the doorway. 

Police have charged Jamal Hamed, 50, with attempted murder and two counts of assault with a weapon.

Police also located two men who were hurt when they tried intervene in the fight:  A 60-year-old man who suffered apparent knife wounds to the head and a 30-year-old man with knife wounds to the hands.
