1 dead in fatal crash on Highway 401
Collectors lanes at Leslie closed following multi-vehicle crash
One man is dead following a three-vehicle crash that has closed Highway 401's westbound collector lanes this morning, according to Toronto EMS.
Ontario Provincial Police said the westbound collector lanes at Leslie Street and all the Bayview lanes are closed.
The crash happened at around 4:50 a.m. A BMW and Taxi cab collided in the westbound lanes. The cab spun out, then hitting a Mercedes, according to police.
The 22-year-old driver of the Mercedes then lost control and struck the cement barrier. The man, from Markham, Ont., was pronounced dead on scene.
A woman in the car was transported to hospital with non life threatening injuries.
Occupants from the other two vehicles sustained no injuries.
The Leslie Street southbound and northbound ramps are closed and the westbound 401 collector ramp to Yonge Street is also closed.
