Residents and cottagers on Eagle Lake witnessed the spectacle of water bombers flying overhead on the weekend, as a forest fire flared up, fanned by heavy winds.
Heather Pridham is an information officer with the Ministry of Natural Resources. She said the fire centre had many calls about the fire.
"It was a human-caused fire, and due to the high winds we had that day, the crew that was on the ground did request air attack. We sent two water bombers to help out, and it all worked out fine in the end," Pridham said.
Pridham says there was heightened concern about the fire at Eagle Lake due to the number of cottages and outfitters on the lake.
She said the fire was declared out on Sunday.
