Some people in Thunder Bay are chipping in to help those in need this holiday season.
When Kim Coreau heard the Christmas Cheer Fund wouldn't be providing food hampers to single people and seniors this year, she sprung into action. She runs the Facebook group, Help Make the Homeless Smile.
"The seniors and single people, there's not so much anymore for them,” she said. “So that's what we're trying to do, is change that — at least for this Christmas season."
Coreau's group is partnering with the Regional Food Distribution Association and other organizations to collect food for those former Christmas Cheer clients.
"I help anybody in need. I help the homeless in need, I help single mothers,” she said.
“Whoever needs it, I'm there — or I try to be. And my Facebook group's the same way.”
Coreau is accepting donations at her home on Machar Avenue.
