Thunder Bay's Lyceum theatre has sold.
The city reports the historic building, located on Cumberland Street, went for a "fair market value" of $20,000. The buyer of the 105-year-old building has agreed to rehabilitate the structure.
“Technically, it’s not a historical building, it’s on the registrar, but still, that is the next step before you get designated,” said Coun. Larry Hebert, who sits on the Heritage Advisory Committee.
“It's a good thing because it does have a lot of history. It is one of the old theatres in Thunder Bay. And certainly the facade is beautiful.”
The city tried to sell the building earlier this year for over $100,000, but there were no takers.
