Thunder Bay Police clarify homicide investigation
Thunder Bay Police announced today that two of the four persons of interest in an aggravated assault that took place in the early morning hours of Canada Day were arrested shortly after the incident.
21-year-old Becky Re-Anna Mamakwa and 31-year-old Carl Spencer Rae were arrested at a building commonly known as the Odd Fellows Hall by police. Both were charged with aggravated assault and remain in custody. The Criminal Investigations Branch, the Coroner's Office and the Crown Attorney are reviewing the charges after the victim, 52-year-old Christopher Adams, died in hospital on Tuesday.
Police said the information regarding the arrest of Mamakwa and Rae "was not released earlier due to a breakdown in internal communications."
Two other males are still being sought in the case. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
