Four men from Thunder Bay have been arrested and face charges of accessing and possessing child pornography.

Thunder Bay Police and the OPP said the arrests follow an investigation by the OPP Child Sexual Exploitation Section and the Thunder Bay Police Cyber Crime Unit.

Two of the four accused — 26-year-old Allan Wilbur Burkhart and 25-year-old Justin David William Chabot — are also charged with distributing child pornography.

Thunder Bay Police Chief JP Levesque said the case involves what he calls a significant amount of child porn, but there’s more investigative work to do.

"This is [a] bit of the tip of the iceberg," Levesque said. "There are always going to be these issues, and [we] just keep chipping away at it."

Levesque said the Cyber Crime Unit currently has two officers. He said it could use 22.
