A  Thunder Bay man injured when a minivan collided with a front-end loader has died in hospital.

Thunder Bay police on Friday identified the victim as 21-year-old Matthew Hakala.

Hakala suffered critical injuries in an accident Wednesday on John Street Road that demolished the minivan he was driving.

Police said his vehicle appeared to have struck the rear of a front-end loader being driven by a 61-year-old man.

The impact sent both vehicles off the road on opposite sides.

The investigation into the accident continues.
